3D Printing Services
Ames Industries has recently added state-of-the-art FDM 3D printing capabilities to our facility for faster and more efficient prototyping and the quick manufacture of custom support items for our customers. We are dedicated to providing our customers with high-quality, cost-effective solutions and an exceptional customer experience, and one way that we do that is by continually upgrading and adding to our capabilities.
What is FDM 3D Printing?
Fused Deposition Modelling, or FDM, is a unique type of 3D printing that feeds polymer filaments through a nozzle to build a layer-by-layer product. The nozzle is heated, melting the material before applying it onto the platform while guided by a CAD model. The result is an accurate plastic component that can be quickly finished and tested.
Professional FDM 3D Printing Services
Ames Industries has added an FDM 3D printer to our roster to provide our customers with faster, more efficient prototyping. The FDM technique is especially suited to these applications, offering quick turnaround on low-cost prototypes that our customers can quickly provide feedback and modifications to before going into full production. We also use FDM to quickly manufacture custom support pieces for assemblies, such as grippers and brackets, providing a quicker and cheaper option for our customers over traditional machining methods.
Ames Industries’ FDM Printing
Ames has a StrataSys model F370 3D printer designed for affordable, industrial-grade 3D printing. This printer can accommodate a wide range of thermoplastics and carbon fiber and allows us to provide our customers with accurate and reliable 3D printing. Thanks to the FDM printer, we produce low volumes of prototypes in a wide range of geometries and shapes.
